The community and civil society are called upon to make submissions or inputs related to the new name for the municipality.
According to Willie Maphosa, council spokesperson, submissions and suggestions may be made electronically to newnamenw405@tlokwe.gov.za.
Maphosa says it is hoped that the municipality will have a new name by the end of the current financial year in June.
“At a special council meeting held on Tuesday, the council decided to begin immediately with a process that will lead to the adoption of a name for the amalgamated municipality of Ventersdorp–Tlokwe NW405. A schedule of ward based public participation meetings stretching from 31 January to 13 February was adopted at the meeting.
“A twin process to craft a corporate identity in respect of logo and colours will also be undertaken simultaneously. The process is driven by the Naming Portfolio Committee of Council,” he said.
