The community patrollers of Sector 3 (Ext. 11) managed to confiscate a number of knives between 21:30 last Friday and 02:00 the following morning.
The area, which has been rocked by a high incidence of crime, saw community patrollers uniting to protect the vulnerable community members.
According to Const. Kelebogile Trom, Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, Ext. 11 has a high number of criminal cases including GBH (grievous bodily harm), robberies with weapons, and theft out of motor vehicles.
‘We urge the community members to always be cautious and not to walk alone at night, especially young girls who can become the targets of rape,’ she says.
