A prison inmate at Potchefstroom correctional services smoked nyaope, felt sick and dozed off, only to wake up to the possibility that he might have been raped.
WO Mpho Manyoba says the Potchefstroom police are investigating a case of rape after a male complainant alleged that he had been raped last Saturday, 4 February.
According to Manyoba, the male inmate alleges that he was fully clothed when he fell asleep next to another inmate at around 02:00 that Saturday. ‘At about 04:00 in the morning, he woke up and noticed semen on his thighs. His underwear and trousers were around his knees.
‘A rape case has been opened and the investigation continues,’ said Manyoba.
*Nyaope is a cocktail of drugs made from ingredients such as rat poison, dagga, heroin and antiretrovirals.
