A newborn baby, believed to be only one day old, has been saved after being found in the rain next to the Puma Stadium in Witbank.

ER24 Paramedics were contacted for assistance by a local security company around 17:25 yesterday (21 February). A security guard had been patrolling the area next to the stadium where the baby had been found in a field close to the main entrance of the Puma stadium.

When ER24’s paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the baby suffering of hypothermia. It is believed that the little girl was left alone in the rain for two to three hours.

ER24 Paramedics immediately changed the baby into dry clothes to get her temperature back to normal and then transported her to Emalahleni Private hospital.

It is believed that the baby was born in a hospital, but there was no form of identification left with her.

The hospital will be notifying the police of the incident.
