Thabiso Mogapi wa Tsotetsi, the chairperson of Action For Social Justice International says she is in a serious condition in hospital after being raped and stabbed by the perpetrators.

Const. Kelebogile Trom, Ikageng spokesperson confirmed the incident and says the woman is believed to have been dragged from her yard at about 23:00 while she was speaking on her cell phone. She says she was allegedly stabbed in the back, struck on the head with a rock and kicked in the mouth before being raped. ‘Two of the three men raped her and ran away,’ she said.

Trom says the suspects who are still at large also took her belongings including a cell phone, sneakers and her wallet with her bank- and ID cards. Mogapi wa Tsotetsi condemned this incident and asks why the country keeps quiet about these hate crimes. He fears that another young lesbian was targetted after a burnt body was discovered in Kroonstad on Tuesday.
