A 29-year-old teacher, Johannes Hotile, who has been described as an ‘asset’ to the Madibeng Primary School was found dead last Saturday.

According to Const. Kelebogile Trom, the Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, the police received an inquest in Ikageng at 12:45. ‘On arrival, they found the 29-year-old lying on the floor with blood spatter on his face. He had a deep cut on his left wrist. A knife and a razor were lying on the ground next to him. According to his sister, Hotile had had an argument with his ex-girlfriend. Although he even nicked his two children; neither suffered any serious injuries. The Madibeng School principal, Richard Thito says they are very sad about the incident because Johannes was an asset to the school. ‘We have lost one of our best teachers; he taught Technology and was involved in many activities at the school.
The day before his death, he was involved in an astrology competition at the NWU Potchefstroom Campus, where the school received the second position after Laerskool Mooirivier in NW405. He was also involved in the YCAP competition and came second, nationally, for the past two years,’ says Richard. Not only that, Johannes walked the extra mile for learners from the secondary schools. According to Richard, he helped Gr.12 learners from Botoka, Tlokwe and Resolofetse secondary schools with mathematics after hours.
Johannes will be buried in Bloemhof this Saturday. He leaves behind a 5-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter. His death comes in the wake of the demise of a police official, Const. Aldridge Craig Claasen on 20 May.
