The Ikageng police have opened three inquest dockets after a 4-month-old baby, a 23-year-old woman and a 33- year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances.

According to WO Ishmael Mohutsiwa, the SAPS spokesperson, the police were called to a scene, at about 21:48 on Sunday, where a 4-month-old baby girl is believed to have died on her mother’s back.
‘The 32-year-old mother alleged that the baby was fine when she was at a friend’s house and carried the child on the back. When she arrived home, the baby was dead. The ERMS personnel had already declared the baby dead and she was taken to Potchefstroom mortuary,’ said Mohutsiwa.
In another case, a 33-year-old woman died at the hospital after telling the doctor that her husband had kicked her the previous day,’ reported Mohutsiwa.
Last Monday, a 23-year-old woman is believed to have ingested an unknown liquid and passed away in the hospital, he said.
According to him, the victim’s mother had received a call at work to say that her daughter had drunk poison and was admitted to the hospital.
‘Sadly, she was declared dead when she arrived at the hospital,’ he said.
