The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) held its gala dinner in Potchefstroom recently to commemorate youth month and showcase young entrepreneurs.

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) held its gala dinner in Potchefstroom recently to commemorate youth month and showcase young entrepreneurs.

The chairperson of the board, Sifiso Mtsweni, bemoaned the high unemployment rate in South Africa currently. He also called for an end to violence against women and children. ‘Despite the many laws and policies we have in our country that are favourable to women and seek to empower them, many women suffer indescribable abuse and some at the hand of the very same people who are supposed to protect them.
‘We need to take a stand as a nation and as young people to preserve the future of young women. We call to an end of the killing of women and children,’ he said.
Ratanang Modungwa, Nnete Baijang, Kgomotso Rankoko and Palesa Tsomakae came to celebrate youth month at the NYDA gala dinner.
Kope Makgae who plays Mrekza in South Africa’s popular soapie, Generations, entertained the audience.
