A 10-year-old mentally ill girl in Ikageng is believed to have been raped by a 54-year-old man last Sunday.
According to the Ikageng police spokesperson, Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the incident took place while she was playing with her friends at about 16:54. The man grabbed her and went on to rape her.
‘The man has been arrested for the alleged rape,’ said Trom.
Another rape case involving a teen girl was opened at the Ikageng police station last week after a 14-year-old girl said she had been raped in the veld in Promosa on Christmas Day.
She alleges that she went to the tuckshop looking for a friend and was approached by a man who grabbed her and threatened her with a knife. ‘He took her to a veld and instructed her not to scream. He raped her and then offered her R10 before leaving her there,’reported Trom.
