A 21-year-old has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in the open veld next to Mohadin at about 21:00 last Friday.
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, the man is believed to have taken the girl by force. She was on her way to the tuck shop to buy medication for her mother because she was ill.
‘The girl says she ran into the suspect who grabbed her by the hands and told her not to scream. He took her to an open veld, ripped her clothes off and proceeded to rape her. He told her not to tell anyone and promised her money.
‘The girl, who was bleeding at the time, got dressed and reported the matter to her mother,’ Trom concluded.
