A 15-year-old girl stabbed her 47-year-old stepfather to death after a quarrel in Ext. 11 last Sunday (30 September).
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, the mother of the girl told the police what had happened.
‘According to her daughter, she was busy cooking and decided to go and buy tomatoes. When she returned, her stepfather had switched off the stove and told her she and her brother must leave the house. He grabbed her and held her very tightly. She then took out a knife and stabbed him,’ said Trom. When the police arrived, they met with the paramedics. The victim, Alfred Jonas, was lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The suspect was arrested.
Trom says there was another murder, in Promosa in the early hours of last Friday. According to her, a 32-year-old man, Xavier Rademeyer passed away in the Promosa clinic after an unknown person stabbed him in the chest.
‘The police received the call at about 02:45. Upon their arrival, a paramedic showed them the body of a male with a stab wound to the chest. The mother of the deceased identified the victim and said her son had run to a community member’s place screaming for help. That person transported him to Promosa clinic where he later passed away.
Neither the events leading to the death nor the identity of the suspect is known,’ she said.
