A police sergeant from the Ikageng detectives accused of killing a 35-year-old man appeared before the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s court on Monday, 8 April.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson, Moses Dlamini says it is alleged that the police officer went to the home of Thamsanqa Phofoolo (35) on Friday night to confront him on allegations that he had stolen from his tavern.
Dlamini added that the police officer fatally shot Phofoolo. “The SAPS arrested the suspect and handed him over to Ipid, which charged him with murder,” he said.
