VIDEO: Municipality warns residents about brown drinking water

Residents are advised to avoid drinking this water pending the release of test results.

“Residents are advised to avoid drinking this water pending the release of test results. The Municipality is tinkering water into all these affected areas,” read a statement from the municipality about water problems in Ikageng and the industrial area.

According to the statement, the municipality started fixing the main water supply pipe to the Ikageng reservoir yesterday (27 August). However,  some lower areas of Ikageng proper (i.e. Vuka), Extensions 9 and 11, as well as Potchefstroom Industrial, have been receiving water that is brownish in color.

“The quality of this water has been tested and we are awaiting results which may be available tomorrow. Meanwhile, the affected water supply network is being flushed. This process will continue throughout the night to address its tepidity. The Municipality regrets this inconvenience and is working hard to bring the situation to normalcy” read the statement.
