Police recover stolen goods

The police recently recovered some of the stolen goods from housebreaking and theft that occurred in Molebopa Street between 12 April and 7 May.

According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police received a tip-off about stolen property and the whereabouts of one of the suspects. The informer contacted them on 8 May. The following day, they arrested a 28-year-old suspect in Baiepei, Extension 6 and recovered some of the stolen goods. The police also arrested a second suspect on Wednesday, 20 May.

This followed after a 44-year-old man reported the incidents of housebreaking and theft when he found his home in a mess.

According to Sgt Trom, the man works away, so the alleged incidents occurred while he was out of town.

The victim claims that everything in his home was in place before he left for work. He had ensured that the doors and windows were secured. When he got back at around 22:50 on 7 May, however, his house was in a different state. “He found his kitchen in a mess; the groceries were lying on the floor and his wardrobe doors were open. He went to the sitting room and noticed his plasma TV, clothes, shoes, bedding, printer, hi-fi system, three bicycles, a car battery, carburettor, Polo spare key, four mags, wheels and tyres were missing,” said Trom.

Soon after the first suspect was arrested, he briefly appeared in court and was remanded in custody for further investigations.

The police request anyone with relevant information to contact Detective Sgt Eric Gaerupe 079 891 0021.

The property was handed back to the owner and Sgt Trom said he was happy with the service that the police provided.
