Son to appear in court for allegedly killing his father

A 26-year-old man is expected to appear in the Ventersdorp Magistrates' Court today (8 June,) for the allegedly killing his father.

A 26-year-old man is expected to appear in the Ventersdorp Magistrates’ Court today (8 June,) for the allegedly killing his father.

According to Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, police spokesperson, the police were called to a house in Tshing,  last Friday, 5 June in the early hours of the morning.

“On arrival, a 56-year-old man was found on the floor with what appeared to be stab wounds on the upper body. He was also declared dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS),” stated Brigadier Mokgwabone.

Initially, the police were told that the deceased was allegedly killed by intruders, but investigations led to the arrest of the 26-year-old son of the deceased.

In a separate incident, a 19-year-old man from Christiana is also expected to appear in the Christiana Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 8 June for allegedly stabbing his father to death.

“The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena condemned both incidents.
“The Provincial Commissioner reiterated the importance of engaging in peaceful conversations and resolution of conflicts to avert incidents like these,” said Brig Mokgwabone.
