Community members refurbish home of teen orphan

Like Helen Keller once said, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

A group of community members took the initiative of working together to refurbish the home of a young girl.

Thapelo (TP) Malgas, together with the Goitsemodimo Found- ation – empowering youth of all genders and fellow community members, drove the initiative to help those in need to empower themselves.

As part of the initiative, the group decided to assist a 16-year-old girl from Sarafina. She has been living alone in an RDP since her parents passed away.

They painted the walls of the home, installed windows and donated new curtains, a bed and cupboard, groceries, toiletries, clothes and much more.

Malgas encourages the general public to assist and reach out to their fellow community members, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic, as many people are unemployed as a result. “Please, let’s not turn a blind eye, especially when someone needs our help,” he said.

He also pleads with people or companies within the district to help the initiative to change the lives of underprivileged youth and senior citizens.

For more information or to donate any goods (like furniture, clothes, blankets, food, etc.) to help those in need, contact Malgas at 078 489 5650 and Goitsemodimo Kwena at 067 364 6481.
