NW Education brings classroom closer to learners

The North West Department of Education brings classroom closer to learners through the Dial-a-Tutor program.

The North West Department of Education brings classrooms closer to learners through the Dial-a-Tutor program. The department launched the digital program at the Onkabetse-Thuto Secondary school on Wednesday, 5 August.

Dial-a-Tutor is a contact solution where learners can call a toll free number which will provide them an opportunity to interact with subject specialists.

This digital program aims to bring the classroom closer to learners for grades 8 to 12 across the province.

Elias Malindi, the Department of Education spokesperson says through this platform, the subject specialists will be able to tutor the learners in their different subjects throughout the school break.

“The long school break necessitated the department to provide learners with specific attention from tutors to resolve problematic areas in their subjects,” said Malindi.

During the launch, the learners of Onkabetse-Thuto Secondary school were given the opportunity to test the program and were assisted in their various subjects.

NW MEC of Education, Mmaphefo Matsemela encouraged learners to use the program effectively.

“I take this time to encourage learners to strive on until you realise your dreams. I also implore our school community in the form of parents and teachers to embrace this program as well as to support learners to utilise the platform in order for it to be successful,” she said.

Teachers may also use this platform to request materials for their subjects

The Dial a Tutor number is 0800 383 383. It can be called between Monday-Friday, from 07:00-20:00.
