NW MEC wishes teachers a happy teachers’ day

The North West MEC of Education, Mmaphefo Matsemela, sends regards to educators as they celebrated International Teachers' Day on Monday, 5 October.

The North West MEC of Education, Mmaphefo Matsemela, wished educators a happy International Teachers’ Day on Monday, 5 October.

The Department of Education’s theme is “Working in solidarity with teachers during the Covid-19 pandemic”. Teacher appreciation activities will continue for the rest of the month.

MEC Matsemela said this year’s World Teachers’ Day is noteworthy as teachers were stretched beyond the classroom, and she appreciates all the efforts made. “On behalf of the North West team, we are grateful for the hard work that you have done throughout the year. Unlike other years, 2020 saw the world battling through making ends meet with the coronavirus and that includes the school fraternity. We saw you our beloved teachers being stretched beyond your core,” she said.

Through this period, she says teachers made use of the digital space with resilience all because of the eagerness teachers have to empower young minds. She further expressed her gratitude.
