On Tuesday, 28 September, the executive mayor of J.B. Marks Local Municipality, Ald. Mapule Mataboge, led a team of municipal officials and councillors during the handover of 28 new municipal vehicles to deliver services to the residents of Potchefstroom.

They drove the vehicles around Ikageng, Promosa and Mohadin to present them to the residents. “Although our term in office is coming to an end, we must ensure that the work that is done towards building the community never stops,” the municipal manager, Ofentse Masibi, said.

Masibi explained that the municipality wanted to demonstrate that they were going to improve the services they provide to the community, now that more resources were available.

“Our common goal is to accelerate service delivery and improve the lives of people within our communities,” Masibi added.

The executive mayor stressed that the vehicles do not belong to any officials or councillors but are there only to deliver services to the residents.

“Now that we have these added resources, I would like to think that the constant cry for help from our community will soon be a distant memory,” she said. “We no longer have an excuse for being unable to assist where we are needed.”
