It was an exciting new milestone when the Athletes In Need Organisation (AIN) hosted its first awards ceremony at the Potchefstroom dam on Friday, 1 April.

According to Busang Molekane, the chairperson of AIN, the event was a tremendous success. It aimed to give recognition to ambitious and courageous participants of the Non-State Sector (NSS) – Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), the hardworking and dedicated staff and some of the stakeholders and partners during the 2021/2022 financial year.

“We awarded deserving participants who have worked extremely hard during the cleaning and maintenance programme of sports and recreational facilities,” Busang explained.
“The organisation also celebrated its recent accolade for Community Sports Developer of the Year 2020/2021 at the North West Recognition Sports Awards,” he added.

Approximately 120 people attended the event. Among the crowd were special guests, Tsietsi Musi (sub-district Office of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation), Thabo Seroalo, Tshepo Lambert and MMC Patricia Mtshali (J.B. Marks Department of Sports, Arts and Culture), Max Monyemore (J.B. Marks Department of Local Economic Development), MMC Lesego Molapisi, Didy Maloganye (Ward 1 councillor), Mpondo Mbotho (chairperson of Secondary and Tertiary School Commission), Johnny Sekano (North West Sports Academy).

“It was such an honour to witness the appreciative participants being involved in the programme and receiving recognition for their involvement,” Busang said.
“It was also truly an honour that our event was graced by respected government officials, local councillors and representatives. I have never seen something of that nature happen in our city before; it is through God’s grace,” he concluded
