Korea defeat sees SA to take on USA for 7/8 spot in World Cup

The Koreans won the match 1-0 thanks to a solitary goal from Nurim Choi in the second quarter. 

South Africa were left frustrated as they could not find their way to goal against a resolute Korea in a 5th and 8th place playoff match at the FIH Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup at the NWU Astroturf on Sunday, 10 April.

The Koreans won the match 1-0 thanks to a solitary goal from Nurim Choi in the second quarter.

“I think we put a few good performances together, but we are not taking our chances,” said SA hockey player Kyla de Waal afterwards.

SA now face the USA in their final match on Tuesday, 12 April in a battle for 7th and 8th place.

That match will start at 09:00. The final of the Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup will also take place on Tuesday, 12 April as the Netherlands take on Germany at 15:45.
