Water treatment plant suspended in another cable theft

On Thursday, 12 May 2022, Potchefstroom Water Treatment Plant experienced another cable theft. According to a statement released by the municipality, the incident took place at one of the Pump Stations feeding Ikageng West and Ventersdorp Road Reservoir which resulted in low water levels.

Following the theft, water supply has been suspended in the following areas:

* Miederpark

* CBD

* Bult (including University & SANDF areas)

“Our electrical maintenance team is already on site attending to the problem. The JB Marks Local Municipality apologizes to all residents who got affected due to the incident,” the statement read.
