Vote for your child protection hero and win

A participant (nominator) and nominated child protector will be rewarded with a flight in a glider/sailplane.

“There isn’t a better way to escape the everyday hustle and bustle than reaching for the sky, riding in a glider – flying quietly, flitting from cloud to cloud appreciating a bird’s eye view of nature”, says Susan Fouché who teamed up with AKA Vlieg, to acknowledge people who are making a positive difference in child welfare. AKA Vlieg is an engineering company that manufactures high performance gliders.

Susan Fouché, the manager of Vessels of Mercy (non-profit organization and safehouse for children), invites the public and all child protection units in the North-West province to take part in a fun and exciting competition where they must nominate their child protection hero.
Men and women working in child protection units are our social workers, police, psychiatrists, counsellors, and magistrates.

“They are keeping children safe and families strong”, says Susan who has a calling to help abused and neglected children.

People working in child protection don’t have the most glamorous occupation and hardly ever receive the recognition they deserve. But thanks to Vessels of Mercy and AKA Vlieg people who are making a positive difference in the community will be acknowledged.

“All heroes need to be spoiled every now and then. At the end, a participant (nominator) and nominated child protector will be rewarded with a flight in a glider/sailplane”, says Susan.

This competition is a fundraiser for Vessels of Mercy, running a safehouse for children in Potchefstroom.

Vessels of Mercy does not apply for financial assistance from the government and is only maintained by sponsors and donors.

With this competition Susan also hopes that child protectors in the North-West province will get to know one another.
