After a family’s shack in Zakele, Ikageng went up in flames on Monday, 22 August, a single mother and her two boys aged three and five were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. One community member, Adelle Jerling, posted on Facebook, asking the community to assist with anything from household goods, blankets, and clothing to food items.
Donations came pouring in, for which the family is extremely grateful. According to Jerling, the only thing the family of three still needs is building material to rebuild their shack as someone has offered them shelter in the meantime.
