Municipality working towards a clean city

The municipality has been targeting illegal dumping hotspots from 3 to 31 October. Councillors, officials and the Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) are cleaning up illegal dumping sites in Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp.

Executive mayor Gaba Ka Qhele, who is also actively involved in the cleaning campaign, said the goal is for the town to be clean as we head towards the festive season.
“At some point between 2006 and 2009, our city was rated among one of the cleanest and best-run municipalities.
Therefore, the new administration aims to take the city to greater heights, where it used to be,” he said.

 
While cleaning in Ward 18, speaker Moithoesi Dassie said community members suffer from illnesses caused by the environment they live in.
“For the place to remain clean, we urge community members to assist us by dumping their waste where they are supposed to. Together, we will keep the town clean,” she said.
