Municipality warns of driver and learner license scam

"The matter has been reported to the South African Police Service. Members of the public are therefore warned to be vigilant and not to engage into the scam of buying driver and learner licenses."

A scam is doing the rounds where members of the public are enticed into buying driver and learner licenses with the instruction of collecting these fake licences at the J.B Marks drivers license testing station.

J.B Marks Local Municipality spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, stated in a press release on Sunday 5 February that the SAPS is currently investigating the matter.

“The matter has been reported to the South African Police Service. Members of the public are therefore warned to be vigilant and not to engage into the scam of buying driver and learner licenses. The JB Marks Local Municipality Drivers License Testing Station would like to place on record that, no person or service provider has been appointed to render such a service on behalf of the Municipality,” added Tshite.

Members who suspect and or have been scammed are encouraged to report the matter to the South African Police Service at the nearest station.
