One person lost their life in a motor vehicle accident this afternoon (Saturday, August 22) on the N12 during a multi-vehicle collision. One motorist also sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital.

The accident occurred approximately 15 kilometres outside Potchefstroom in the direction of Johannesburg at around 16:10 this afternoon.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, two people were found trapped in their vehicles and required extrication.
“One patient sustained critical injuries; however, despite advanced life support interventions, the patient succumbed to their injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The second patient sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care,” added ER 24 Communiations Officer, Ineke van Huyssteen.

All relevant authorities were on the scene.
