Waste collection services interrupted due to service provider issues

There are disagreements between several Local Business Owners and the new service provider that the municipality has appointed to manage operations at the Landfill Site.

Various residents in Potchefstroom are dealing with an interruption in waste removal for the past week.

According to the J.B. Marks municipality this is due to municipal waste collection truck drivers reportedly encountering heavily locked gates at the landfill site when they tried to enter.

“According to reports, this is the result of disagreements several Local Business Owners had with the new service provider that the municipality had appointed to manage operations at the Landfill Site.
Whilst the Municipality regrets the inconvenience caused by the situation that prevails, a conflict between the two parties is being addressed and in due course, residents will be informed of a backup plan for waste collection,” stated J.B. Marks municipality spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite.
