School learners show creative talent in art competition

Learners from grades 1 to 12 could enter this competition and showcase their creative skills with uplifting artwork, inspired by the theme “Coffee Shop Traditions.”

The Uniprop Potchefstroom Schools Art Competition once again showcased artistic talent in schools during the awards function at The Everyday Diner on Friday, 29 September.

Learners from grades 1 to 12 could enter this competition and showcase their creative skills with uplifting artwork, inspired by the theme “Coffee Shop Traditions.”

Students who met the age criteria of The Lions Club had the opportunity to create art based on their theme “Dare to Dream”.

Potchefstroom Gimnasium, The Potchefstroom High School for Girls, Hoër Volkskool Potchefstroom, Laerskool Mooirivier, Laerskool Baillie Park, Laerskool President Pretorius, Potchefstroom Central School, Potchefstroom Primary, Promosa Primary, with support from the Promosa Community Youth Centre, all entered in the competition.

The artworks were also proudly exhibited at the Potchefstroom Museum and Art Gallery throughout September, thanks to the meticulous efforts of Miems Lamprecht.

Grades 1 – 2

1st Place – Anlia Robinson – Laerskool Mooirivier

2nd Place – Amia Van Der Walt – Laerskool Baillie Park

3rd Place – Sheriessa Van Wyk – Potch Primary

Grades 3 – 5

1st Place – Julie Neumann – Potchefstroom Central

2nd Place – Momena Bujwa – Potch Central

3rd Place – Megan Schmahl – Laerskool Mooirivier

Grades 6 – 7

1st Place – Wian Wolmarans – Laerskool Mooirivier

2nd Place – Natalie Kaunda – Potch Central
