Temperatures rise in NW Club Cricket Premier League

The top bowlers for NWU I were Eward Nel (3/13), Luthando Tsanwani (3/15) and Conrad van Dyk (2/24).

It was a day of exciting cricket under searing temperatures in the North West Club Cricket Premier League on Saturday, 14 October.

NWU easily beat Potch Dorp by 7 wickets after the latter had another batting collapse in the space of two weekends. This time Potch Dorp I were bowled out for 109 in 29.1 overs at the Witrand Oval with Renier Bosman top scoring with 27.

The top bowlers for NWU I were Eward Nel (3/13), Luthando Tsanwani (3/15) and Conrad van Dyk (2/24).

The NWU reached the target in the 20th over with Heinrigh Pieterse playing a captains knock of 56* (44).

NWU Taurus also made light work of Ikageng with an easy 8-wicket win at the Ibbies Oval.

Tshireletso Tikoe (31 off 40 balls) and Junior Mathe (36 off 84 balls) showed resistance for Ikageng in their score of 111 all out, but when their wickets fell the rest followed like dominoes.

Chrisjan Lombard (5/26) was excellent for Taurus and ripped the heart out of the Ikageng batting line-up.

A fine half-century from Sithembiso Modise (60 off 48 balls) took Taurus to the win.

In the Premier B-league, Reinke 9T20 I beat Matlosana by 8-wickets thanks to the effort of two stalwarts of the NW Cricket system.

Erik Wyma took 4/43 with his left-arm spin bowling and made a brilliant 110* (113) to take his team to victory. His partnership of 232 with Mike Fielding (104 from 123 balls) were a treat to watch as Reinke 9T20 secured a comprehensive win.

Earlier, Matlosana were restricted to 241 all out at the Reinke Oval. Azaz Patel (50 off 48 balls) and Tausif Patel (54 from 54 balls) helped the visitors to a defendable total. Brian Thaele (2/31) off 9 overs was also excellent.
