PAWS’ Adopt-Your-Boss event brings laughter and fun to fundraising

PAWS is putting a playful twist on fundraising with its annual Adopt-Your-Boss event, a unique tradition that has delighted participants for 13 years. This year’s event promises to deliver even more laughs and surprises as it continues its mission to support animal welfare in a fun and engaging way.

The Adopt-Your-Boss event turns the typical fundraising format on its head by humorously ‘impounding’ designated bosses and colleagues. Once captured, these ‘strays’ are transported to PAWS, where they undergo a playful ‘vaccination’ and ‘deworming’ process before being booked into a kennel. This whimsical treatment provides a light-hearted way for participants to engage with the cause.

At the kennel, the fun truly begins. Colleagues and friends gather to decorate the kennels with snacks and drinks, creating a festive atmosphere as they wait for their boss or friend to be ‘adopted.’ The highlight of the event is the opportunity for companies or individuals to donate an adoption fee to PAWS, further supporting the organization’s work.

The festive ambiance is enhanced by the sound of music and the aroma of ‘braaiwors’ (grilled sausages), making the event a lively social gathering. It’s a chance for businesses, friend groups, and even schools to join in and experience the joy of giving back in a creative and memorable way.
