Kenneth Mtshweni of the Emfuleni Potchefstroom runners spoke about the personal transformation he experienced. “Joining this running club has helped me lose weight, and I’m very proud of the progress I’ve made,” Mtshweni said. “It’s been a life-changing journey.”

Thamsanqa Tomi from the SAPS Potchefstroom runners reflected on his decision to join the club. “This club is the best decision I have ever made,” Tomi said. “It has provided me with not only physical fitness but also a supportive community.”

The highlight of the evening was the speech by Coach Benzi Tenza, a renowned local, national, and international athletic coach. Coach Tenza, who is a qualified long-distance coach, athletic influencer, and co-founder of the Gauteng Education Athletic Club, captivated the audience with his insights. He is also a qualified health instructor, holds a black belt in karate, and is recognized as the first Black man to be part of the Boksburg Athletic Club.

In his address, Coach Tenza emphasized the human aspect of athletics. “You are not a machine but a human being,” he said. He provided various tips for runners, with one particular piece of advice standing out. “Put on glasses when running because it does not only stop the sand from getting in your eyes but also protects you from the heat,” Tenza explained.
