Promosa and Mohadin left in the dark after contractor fault

Cables that supply electricity to Mohadin and Promosa were accidentally hooked and damaged by a contractor working on the sewer pipeline.

Residents in Promosa and Mohadin have been without electricity since Tuesday, April 21 due to an accidental fault of a contractor who was working on a sewer pipeline near Poortjie Dam.

According to JB Marks Municipality spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, cables supplying electricity to Mohadin and Promosa were accidentally hooked and damaged by a contractor working on the sewer pipeline.

“Repairs could not be carried out immediately, as both the contractor and Municipality had to source the necessary materials. While the required materials have now been secured, ongoing rainfall is preventing repair work, as cable jointing cannot be performed under wet conditions,” stated Tshite regarding the delay.

The power is expected to be restored today (Wednesday April 22), once the cable joint has been completed.
