Water production reduced in Ventersdorp following pump malfunction
The municipality has not indicated when repairs are expected to be completed but said further updates will be communicated as they become available.
Residents in the Ventersdorp region may experience low water pressure and intermittent supply interruptions after a pump malfunction at the local water treatment plant, reducing water production.
The JB Marks Local Municipality said a section of the older treatment phase at the Ventersdorp Water Treatment Plant is currently out of operation due to a technical fault affecting one of the pumps.
According to the municipality, the malfunction has reduced the abstraction of raw water, resulting in lower volumes of treated water being supplied to communities in the region.
Municipal spokesperson Jeanette Tshite said technical teams are working to restore the affected infrastructure and stabilise water supply.
“Our technical team is on site and working diligently to diagnose and repair the fault as quickly as possible. Every effort is being made to restore normal operations and ensure that water supply is stabilised for affected communities,” said Tshite.
The municipality said it is closely monitoring the situation while repairs are underway.
Residents have been urged to remain patient as technicians work to resolve the problem.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate the patience and understanding of residents during this period,” Tshite said.
