New rescue bakkie gives hope to Paws Haven
The organisation currently provides daily care for about 750 dogs, 200 cats and several other rescued animals.
A new rescue vehicle is set to make a world of difference for hundreds of vulnerable animals after Agreenco Environmental Projects donated a bakkie to Paws Haven, ensuring the organisation can continue responding to emergency rescue call-outs across Potchefstroom and surrounding communities.
The donation forms part of Agreenco’s Projects with Purpose initiative, through which the company invests in organisations making a meaningful impact in the communities where it operates.

For Paws Haven, which has grown into one of the largest animal rescue organisations in the North-West since taking over the town’s animal shelter in June 2025, the new vehicle comes at a crucial time after its previous rescue bakkie broke down earlier this year.
The organisation currently provides daily care for about 450 dogs, 200 cats and several other rescued animals, relying on transport for everything from emergency rescues and veterinary visits to food deliveries, welfare inspections and outreach programmes.
“Paws Haven’s brand-new rescue bakkie is officially on the road, and we couldn’t be more excited,” the organisation said. “This incredible sponsorship is far more than just a vehicle, it is a lifeline for the hundreds of animals in our care. Our new bakkie will help us respond to rescue call-outs, transport injured and abandoned animals, collect donations, attend outreach projects and support the daily operations of Paws Haven.”

The organisation thanked Agreenco for believing in its mission.
“Your generosity and belief in our mission will make a lasting difference, and we are truly grateful. From everyone at Paws Haven and from every wagging tail and grateful purr, thank you.”
Agreenco CEO Fanus van Wyk said supporting Paws Haven was a natural fit for the company.
“Operating across South Africa, Agreenco believes sustainable business should create lasting value for both the environment and the communities in which it operates,” said Van Wyk. “We are proud to stand behind Paws Haven’s mission to rescue, protect and care for vulnerable animals and to give every animal the chance at a safe, healthy and loved life.”

He added that community support remains vital.
“Whether through adopting, volunteering or donating, every contribution helps Paws Haven continue its life-saving work.”
To celebrate the arrival of the new rescue vehicle, Paws Haven has also launched a fun community challenge.
Residents who spot the branded rescue bakkie anywhere in Potchefstroom are encouraged to take a selfie or photograph with it, share it on Facebook, tag Paws Haven NPC and post the photo in the comments on the organisation’s original announcement.
“Together, we’re driving hope, compassion and second chances, one rescue at a time,” Paws Haven said.
