The spirit of Mandela Month has come alive at Paws Haven, where the generosity and compassion of the community are making a lasting difference in the lives of hundreds of vulnerable animals.

From food and blankets to toys, cleaning supplies and financial contributions, local residents, schools, businesses and organisations have rallied behind the animal rescue organisation, proving that even the smallest act of kindness can change a life.

Adding to the celebration, 14 dogs and cats found their forever homes during Mandela Week.

Fourteen animals who no longer have to wonder where their next meal will come from. Fourteen animals who will experience the comfort of a loving family, a warm bed and a place they can finally call home. Each adoption not only gives an animal a second chance but also creates space for Paws Haven to rescue another animal in need.

The organisation thanked every family who chose adoption, as well as the volunteers, staff members, supporters and donors whose continued commitment makes every success story possible.

While Mandela Day may have passed, the need remains.

Paws Haven is encouraging the community to continue supporting its Mandela Month campaign, where every R67 spent helps provide food, shelter and medical care for the hundreds of animals currently in its care, while also expanding its Mass Sterilisation Project to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens in the community.

Residents can support the campaign by purchasing a tray of 30 Grade A Chubby Chick eggs for R67, with proceeds going towards the sterilisation project. Animal lovers can also sponsor a cat or dog for just R67, helping to care for the organisation’s 283 cats, 478 dogs and 73 puppies.

Families considering adding a pet to their home can adopt a sterilised dog or cat for only R67, giving an animal a fresh start while gaining a loyal companion. Bargain hunters can also browse Mom’s Closet, where clothing items are available for R67 each, with all proceeds benefiting the animals.

According to Paws Haven, every rand raised goes directly towards caring for the animals and expanding its sterilisation programme, ensuring that more animals receive the care and protection they deserve.

The special Mandela Month offers are available until July 31, while stocks last.
