N12 open again for motorists after earlier taxi blockage
It is believed that the taxi blockage was due to taxi operations protesting against other forms of public transport that had opened their own taxi rank and also charged different rates.
The Minibus taxis that had blocked the N12 earlier today (Thursday, August 20) has been cleared after discussions on the ground between taxi operators and officials from the JB Marks Traffic Department and SAPS.
NW police spokesperson Captain Majang Skalkie confirmed that the N12 was open for traffic.
It is not yet clear what the official resolution is regarding the situation going forward. It is believed that the taxi blockage was due to taxi operations protesting against other forms of public transport that had opened their own taxi rank and also charged different rates.

The Herald asked the JB Marks Municipality for comment but have not yet received feedback at the time of publication.
