Kyla Mthethwa, captain of The High School for Girls Potchefstroom’s Majorettes team, has been selected as a member of the 2026 SAMCA (The South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association) National Team.

This talented learner will represent South Africa at the MWF (Majorette-sport World Federation) World Championships in Poland from September 26-28.

Kyla began her Majorettes journey at Girls in 2022 with no previous experience in the sport. In the past five years she has transformed into an exceptional majorette through hard work and dedication.

Her journey to success started in earnest in 2023 when Kyla earned North West Provincial Colours, followed by selection to the Provincial Team in 2024.

She went on to earn South African Colours in 2025. Kyla is also the leader of the Large Drill Team.

Adding to her achievements, Kyla is also the captain of the HSGP Majorettes team and leader of the Large Drill Team in 2026.

Kyla will now take to the world stage in September as part of the South African team, where she will look to continue adding accolades and showcasing the spirit of Girls High.
