GEPF Day Roadshow draws strong turnout in Potchefstroom
The event formed part of the Fund's nationwide outreach programme aimed at improving service delivery and member education.
Approximately 550 members of the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) attended the recent GEPF Day Roadshow held at the Methodist Church in Ikageng, Potchefstroom, on September 15, highlighting the growing demand for pension-related information and services among government employees, pensioners and beneficiaries.
The event formed part of the Fund’s nationwide outreach programme aimed at improving service delivery and member education. During his opening remarks, Mr. Ephraim Kekana, GEPF Acting Chief Director: Client Relationship Management, welcomed members and emphasized the importance of taking pension services directly to communities.
“Through engagements such as GEPF Day, the is able to educate, inform and empower members to make informed decisions about their pension benefits while ensuring they understand the services available to them,” said Kekana.
The roadshow provided members with an opportunity to engage directly with GEPF officials, receive assistance with pension-related enquiries, verify their records, and obtain information about the Fund’s benefits, services and claims processes. These objectives formed part of the Fund’s broader member education and awareness initiatives.
When delivering the keynote address, Mr. Smanga Selemani, GEPF Director: Stakeholder Management and Communications, highlighted the Fund’s commitment to ensuring that members have access to accurate information and quality service.
Selemani stressed that member education remains critical in helping members and beneficiaries understand their benefits, rights and responsibilities. He urged members to always make use of official GEPF communication channels when seeking assistance.
The roadshow also served as an important platform to warn members against fraudulent individuals who falsely claim to represent the GEPF. The Fund reiterated that all GEPF services are provided free of charge and cautioned members against paying fees to so-called brokers who promise to expedite pension-related claims.
The strong attendance underscored the value of face-to-face engagement and the Fund’s commitment to bringing services closer to communities across the country. Members were afforded an opportunity to ask questions, seek clarity on benefit matters and interact directly with pension experts.
