SASSA revises November grant payment dates ahead of local elections

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) announced the changes in a media statement issued on Wednesday.

Social grant beneficiaries will receive their November 2026 payments earlier than usual, with SASSA announcing a revised payment schedule ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) announced the changes in a media statement issued on Wednesday, October 14, following consultations with various stakeholders and approval from National Treasury.

According to SASSA, the revised schedule aims to ensure that grant payments continue smoothly, securely and with minimal disruption during the election period.

The grants will be paid on the following dates:

  • – Older Persons Grant: Friday, October 30.
  • – Disability Grant: Monday, November 2.
  • – Children’s Grants: Tuesday, November 3.

SASSA has also confirmed that an additional payment date has been scheduled for Thursday, November 5, specifically for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

The agency has urged beneficiaries whose grants are being reviewed to respond to official communication and attend review appointments when requested.

Beneficiaries are further advised not to rush to SASSA offices unnecessarily, as payments will be processed according to the announced schedule.

SASSA has encouraged the public to rely on its official communication channels for accurate information and to be cautious of misinformation and disinformation surrounding social grant payments.

The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries continue to receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner.
