1.Potchefstroom will be an African cricket hub this weekend

One will be hard pressed to find the last time that Potchefstroom’s Senwes Park and the North West Cricket Union hosted a three-day cricket extravaganza such as the Africa T20 Cup. This new format aims to give fringe players the chance to show their skills to the world, as they take on South Africa’s Protea players and leading provincial players in popular T20 matches. There is none of the regular franchises as teams will compete based on various regions, such as Border, Boland, Easterns, Northers and North-West. The tournament is also played in level B stadiums such as Senwes Park in Potchefstroom and Manguang Oval in Bloemfontein. This will give fans who are cricket-hungry the chance to satisfy their appetite. The first match of the three-day spectacular from 11-13 September, gets underway on Friday from 18:00, when North West will face KZN Inland. Expect a cracker of a match!

2.Jomo Cosmos will look to gain first home PSL victory this season

Olën Park will once again be the centre of football activity in Potchefstroom as Jomo Cosmos take on Platinum Stars in Absa Premiership action. The last time that Jomo Cosmos played against Stars was in 2012 when they lost 4-1. In the last six matches these two teams have drawn three matches with Cosmos winning one and Stars winning twice. Jomo Sono would love to get his first win of the league campaign on home soil.
