The country’s best SANDF pool players will converge in their masses for the 2016 SANDF Blackball Pool Championships at the Madiba banquet halls from 26-30 September.

The North West SANDF Blackball Pool Club will host the event which will also mark the tenth anniversary of this tournament.

‘We are extremely excited about this event and we are expecting approximately 300 players to take part in this year’s event,’ said Alwyn van Zyl, the league   coordinator of the NW SANDF Blackpool Pool Club.

There will be 70 pool tables in operation for the duration of the tournament and progress can be followed live on the internet at www.cuesportfever.com.

The championship programme will consist of four events, namely a speedball event, singles’ tournament, team events and a doubles’ tournament.

Van Zyl added that an open competition will be held for the community of Potchefstroom and the larger North West on Saturday, 24 September. The military will also have a static display in the hall.

‘We invite anyone to come join us on Saturday to showcase their pool skills. In the past, this open challenge has been very competitive and we expect the same this year. The men’s winner takes home R2 000 with the women’s winner getting R1 200,’ he added.

Entries for the Blackball Pool Open competition start at 11:00 with the draw taking place at 14:30. The competition will start at 15:00 and no late entries will be allowed.
