The Sri Lankan Cricket team will set foot in Potchefstroom this coming week as they test out South African wickets before their upcoming series against South Africa this summer.

Sri Lanka will play an SA invitational XI team at Senwes Park in a three-day match from 18-20 December. This will be an interesting encounter with a number of Sri Lankan players having never played a series in SA before.

The Sri Lankan team is also in a rebuilding phase with the captain, Angelo Mathews; wicket keeper, Dinesh Chandimal and left-arm spinner, Rangana Herath making up the core of the experienced players.

Suranga Lakmal may prove to be an effective weapon with his pace on SA pitches, while Dananjaya de Silva is a batsman worth keeping an eye on.

The three-day match against the SA invitational XI starts at 10:00.

Sri Lanka test squad for SA tour:

Angelo Mathews (c) Wikum Sanjaya, Dushmantha Chameera, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Dhananjaya de Silva, Nuwan Pradeep, Rangana Herath, Dimuth Karunaratne, Lahiru Kumara, Suranga Lakmal, Kusal Mendis, Dilruwan Perera, Kusal Perera, Kaushal Silva, Upul Tharanga.
