After three exciting and intense days at the 2017 SAPS Mountain Bike National Championships in Potchefstroom, Eastern Cape’s Donovan O’ Reilly has made the number one spot his own after winning both the, XCO and Marathon stages  on Tuesday and Wenesday, respectively.

O’Reilly clocked in at a time of 1:20:06 in the XCO, together with Wynand Mulder (Western Cape) who established the same time. O’Reilly is currently leading Bennie Coetzer by 01:24 and Mulder by 01:34 in the overall standings with one stage to be completed today. If everything goes according to plan then O’Reilly should be crowned champion today.

Coetzer (Northern  Cape) finishes the Cape podium places in third place. Local with local Frans van der Berg who hot on their rear tyres in fourth aftr the second day, has dropped down the standings and is currently in sixth place a further 10:35 behind O’Reilly.

North West’s Marié Kleynhans is currently the leader in the women’s category with an overall time of 04:17:32.
