Dragons claim crucial win against Limpopo Impalas

The Dragons chased down the target of 148 with 13 balls to spare.

It was not the most classical and comprehensive win, but the North West Dragons managed to get the job done with a 5 wicket victory against the Limpopo Impalas in their Pro20 Cup match.

The Dragons chased down the target of 148 with 13 balls to spare. It was the young guns, Juan James (40 from 25 balls) and Ludwich Schuld (31 from 28 balls) who laid the foundation for the win with a 71-run partnership for the third wicket.

Dian Forrester 25* from 19 balls took the team home with Ruan de Swardt 11* from 8 balls providing an experienced head in the middle.

The Dragons’ best bowler was Daryn Dupavillon, who was unlucky not to get a wicket in his return of 0/21 in four overs. Forrester picked up 3/31 in his four overs as he got crucial wickets at the back end of the innings, such as that of Ernest Kemm for 61 (55 balls).

The Dragons will now need to beat the Northern Cape Heat in Potch on Sunday, October 25 to have a chance of progressing to the Super 8 phase. They will also need to Dolphins to beat the SWD Garden Route Badgers.
