The third day of the 4-Day Franchise series match between the bizhub Highveld Lions and the Warriors at Senwes Park will go a long way to determining the outcome of the title this year.

A fine half-century from Sinethemba Qeshile (76) has steered the Warriors to 321/6 in their pursuit of the bizhub Highveld Lions first innings score of 440 all out. The Lions bowlers struggled to breach the resistance of the Warriors batsmen with openers, Matthew Breetzke (30) and Edward Moore (36) putting up a 72 run opening partnership. One of the Lions bowlers who impressed was debutant, Delano Potgieter, who took 4/58 in a fine speel that gave the Lions hope.

Sisanda Magal’s unbeaten 60 and Thomas Kaber with an unbeaten 40 are currently at the crease for the Warriors on day 3 and they will look to pile on more runs and misery on the Lions who desperately need wickets to get themselves a chance of setting up a quickfire second innings total.

  • In the other 4-Day franchise match between the Cobras and the Dolphins in Pietermaritzburg, Proteas batsman, Zubayr Hamza (134*) and young star Kyle Verryenne (84*) has placed the Cobras in a brilliant position to take the title. The Cobras are currently 322/3 as they build their first innings lead after the Dolphins made 310 all out in their first innings.
