Molefe wants to make his mark at SA half-marathon champs

I am self-coached and self-sponsored at this stage and any support will be greatly appreciated,” he added.

The well-known long-distance athlete from Potchefstroom, Lekhu Molefe (63), once again showed everyone that there is no substitute for experience. He had a stunning run at the Two Oceans Marathon last month.

Molefe came in at a time of 01:43:19 to claim the eighth position in the Grand Master (60–69) category out of 594 competitors. Molefe also came in 664th place overall in this 21-km half-marathon.

Molefe, who runs for Bert’s Bricks Marathon Club, was over the moon with his performance. Now he has his sights set on the SA half-marathon championships in Port Elizabeth on 27 July this year.

“That is my goal, to run at the SA champs in PE and claim a spot in the top five of the field. I am self-coached and self-sponsored at this stage and any support will be greatly appreciated,” he added.

Molefe has had an outstanding 2019 thus far, with first places in his category in the NW half-marathon (1:36:18), Ottosdal (2:48:12) and Klerksdorp 42.2-km (3:22:40) races.
This talented grandmaster admits that his hands are ready for any job and will appreciate the extra funds to achieve his running aspirations.

Any potential sponsors, who want to get onboard with him can contact Molefe on 079 560 9679.
