Two North West Cricket stars showcase their talent for SA u.19’s

Modimokoane impressed in the Proteas' second match of the tournament, picking up 4/24 with the ball to restrict New Zealand to 163 all out.

Two of North West’s youngest talents, Odirile Modimokoane and Khanya Cotani was recently selected as part of the current SA u.19 squad for the upcoming 2020 u.19 Cricket World Cup.

Modimokoane, who is a former Hoërskool Rustenburg learner, made amazing strides at the recent u.19 Khaya Majola Week and now has also showed his class for the young Proteas.

Modimokoane’s left arm spin was a potent force in the current u.19 quadrangular series between Zimbabwe, New Zealand and India, which is currently underway in Durban. Modimokoane impressed in the Proteas’ second match of the tournament, picking up 4/24 with the ball to restrict New Zealand to 163 all out.

Andrew Louw hit a resilient 56 and captain Bryce Parsons a solid 63 as the SA u.19’s beat the New Zealanders by 5 wickets.

SA were not so lucky in the first match as they succumbed to a 66 run loss against a strong India side.

These matches will give SA a good indication whether they can play with the big dogs when the World Cup kicks off on home soil in a fort night’s time.

SA next play against Zimbabwe u.19 tomorrow (Wednesday, 7 January)
