Dorp, Ibbies and Taurus gain victories

It was a cliffhanger of an encounter between NWU Taurus and Ikageng at the NWU Oval

The Wohnen/Top Paints North West Club Premier League heated up this past weekend with the NWU, Potch Dorp 1 and 2, Ibbies and Taurus recording victories.

Potch Dorp 1 easily defeated the NWU Colts by 7 wickets at the Ibbies Oval with Christopher de Freitas (64 off 74) and Christiaan Bester (66 off 66) guiding them to victory.

Potch Dorp 2 defeated The Geek Academy XI from Rustenburg by 8 wickets. Zian de Jager top scored with 47* (25) for Dorp whilst Stiaan Prinsloo took an incredible 4 wickets for only 1 run to restrict the visitors to only 107 all out.

It was a cliffhanger of an encounter between NWU Taurus and Ikageng at the NWU Oval with the hosts gaining a nail-biting 6 run victory. Taurus made 248/6 from 50 overs with Reinardt Englar top scoring with 50 (72) Junior Mathe (2/42) and Bathasbile Masigo (2/61) were the top bowlers for Ikageng.

They also shone with the bat in the run chase with Masigo hitting a superb century (114 off 145 balls). Mathe also contributed a handy 34 but they could just not get over the line reaching 242/6 from 50 overs. NWU Ibbies beat Travelling Reefs by 47 runs with one of their bowlers Jesse James Albanie top scoring with 62 (66) in their total of 219 all out.

Reefs though struggled in their reply only managing 172 all out. Danfred Sefoor (2/24) and Sebastian van Rooyen (3/24) performed best with the ball for Ibbies.

The NWU had a walk in the park against Vryburg’s Ramblers with a 9 wicket victory. Ramblers could only score 89 before the students’ Eben Botha guiding them home with a solid 55* (39).
