De Beer gets first round submission victory at EFC 88

It was short, sharp and to the point for local Potch based EFC fighter, Roevan de Beer who achieved the fourth win of his Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) career at EFC 88 on Saturday, 14 August in Johannesburg.

De Beer took only 4 minutes and 11 seconds in the first round to get the win over Orlando Machava via submission with a relentless and perfectly executed guillotine choke.

The set up for De Beer was a thrilling flying right knee to the side of the head that stunned Machava. In a split-second De Beer was onto his opponent like a hungry shark smelling blood. Machava could do nothing but tap in his perilous situation, giving De Beer one of his most satisfying results after months of preparation.

“I feel good about the win and that the hard work paid off. I was very comfortable in the fight and everything worked out nicely for me. Nothing unexpected happened in the fight,” stated De Beer.

De Beer now has made a statement of intent in the bantamweight division with a 4-1 record and will look to continue his good form in the months to come.
